About Mr. Hitch
My name is Jim Hitchcock and I grew up in and live in Grundy County with my wife and three daughters. I am a U.S. Army veteran and I am a school board member for Morris School District 54. I am a strong advocate of public education and believe it is our responsibility to be involved in the community. I run the public pool in Morris during the summer months. My hobbies include musky fishing, reading, and annoying my daughters. I am a tech geek constantly searching for ways to leverage technology in the classroom and for new ways to engage students.
I've worked in many different industries (factory line worker, warehouse worker, restaurant worker, ditch digger, stock broker, computer programming, accountant, self-employed...) until I discovered teaching to be my passion. I love teaching and I love helping students learn. I believe students learn best by doing and, as a social studies teacher, I will try to inspire your child to not only want to make her/himself a better person, but make our community, our state, our country, and our world a better place. I look forward to working with you and your child.
