Rules, Grades & Attendance
Grades
- Grades are usually updated at least once per week (usually on weekends) in PowerSchool.
- Parent(s)/Guardian(s) will find it very beneficial to get the PowerSchool App for Parents and set it up to have your child's scores sent to you at least weekly.
- Students are responsible to check their grades in PowerSchool at least once per week. This can be done on their phones or on their computers (home or school).
- 7th Social Studies Grades are composed of the following:
- Tests/Quizzes/Projects scores vary and are weighted 70% of the total grade.
- Homework/Classwork scores range from 5 to 20 points weighted 30% of the total grade.
- Discussion board responses are considered “Homework/Classwork” and are 15 points (see rubric: https://bit.ly/DiscussCCMS7SS).
- Citizenship - A weekly measure is recorded in PowerSchool of a student’s behavior for following CCMS’ “4 Cs” (Commitment, Courage, Communication, and Compassion. This “Citizenship” score (of 12 points max) does not impact a students grade but serves as an indicator to student and parent(s)/guardian(s) of how well the student is doing as a citizen of the classroom.
- CCMS “late work” penalties will apply (see handbook: ).
- Extra credit may be offered on a very limited basis.
Attendance/Absences
Students are more likely to succeed in academics when they attend school (in person or remotely) consistently. It's difficult for the teacher to help the student build her/his skills and progress if the student is frequently absent.
If a student is absent, s/he will have one day plus the number of days absent to make up work.
This may not apply to long-term projects and tests with pre-posted due dates.
A student is responsible for ensuring his/her makeup work is retrieved from the teacher and turned-in in a timely manner. The absent student must first look to the Daily Agenda (on the day missed) for the work that was missed. The student will need to see the teacher for any paper copies that were used.
