Mrs. Mark Science Page

Hi!  My name is Jackie Mark.  I am beginning my 22nd year teaching at Coal City Middle School.  I am a high school graduate of Wilmington High School.  I attended the University of St. Francis, in Joliet, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and played college basketball.  I continued my education by attending Olivet Nazarene University, in Bourbonnais, where I graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  I also attended Governors State University, in University Park, where I graduated with a Master of Science degree in Educational Administration.  I have been married for 17 years to my husband, Craig.  We have three children, Braydon, Landon, and Adrianna.  I am a former club volleyball coach for UNO Volleyball Club, in Joliet, IL, and am also an IHSA Certified Volleyball Official.

Currently, I teach 6 classes of Science at Coal City Middle School.  Our science curriculum strictly follows the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).  Our main units include Physics, Astronomy, Weather, and Human Impact on the Environment.  While science is the main focus in my classroom, we will also focus on learning how to work effectively as a team, how to be a problem-solver, and how to communicate with others.  Students will be able to accomplish these goals through a multitude of activities.
