Ms. Fincher took not one, but three pies to the face. Ms. Fincher and her fellow sixth grade teacher Mrs. Mark raised the most money in the sixth grade penny wars, a fundraiser to support local families in need.
Sixth grade teachers challenged their students to bring in their extra change and the teacher that raised the most agreed to have a pie smashed in their face by a student. Mark and Fincher collected $155.48. As it turned out the second and third place teachers also agreed to get pied. Mrs. Sweeney and Mr. Peters class contributed $107.73 and Mr. Fatigante raised $87.57.
To see their classmates' pie five teachers was not enough for the energetic and generous sixth graders, so with some encouragement, other sixth grade teachers joined in and enjoyed a whipped cream pie in the face.
The fundraiser generated $437.31 that will be donated to support local families this holiday season.
