About Us

Coal City Middle School proudly serves the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students of Coal City Community Unit School District #1. We are proud of our strong academic tradition. Our curriculum and assessment practices are aligned with the Illinois Learning Standards to ensure our students are well-prepared for high school and beyond. In addition to our core academics, we offer a robust fine arts and encore program that gives students the opportunity to explore a wide range of interests before advancing to high school

These opportunities serve to advance our mission of preparing today’s learners for tomorrow’s challenges by fostering critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and personal growth.

Academics

Coal City Middle School proudly serves the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students of Coal City Community Unit School District #1. Built in 2000, our school is home to approximately 450 students and supported by a dedicated team of more than 60 certified teachers and staff members.
