Fun with Flickerball

The sixth and seventh grade PE classes at Coal City Middle School have been enjoying Flickerball. It is an activity that uses a football to play basketball. The game incorporates spatial awareness, eye hand coordination, and teamwork. Scoring occurs if the football touches the backboard for 1 point, if the football contacts the rim first that team will be awarded 2 points and a made basket is 3 points.

Students  will  also start physical fitness testing in five  specific areas. Upper body strength, core strength, endurance, flexibility, speed and agility.

Eighth grade students enrolled in  health have covered a variety of topics including physical, social, mental/emotional health, and goal setting. This week we have been studying the five components of physical fitness.
