Middle School students participate in solo and ensemble contest

 

On Saturday,  April 6 students from Coal City Middle School participated in the annual Solo and Ensemble Contest along with students from Dwight and Wilmington. 

Tess Jeschke was named Best of the Day for her flute solo performance that earned a division 1 rating and Marina Figge was named Best of Day with her division 1 performance in vocal solo. 

Students receiving a Division 1 rating  for their instrumental performance were: Eleanor Gordon, baritone solo; Abi Rose, trombone solo; Abby Hitchcock, piano solo; Jaiden Leman, french horn and piano solo; Ben Manering, piano solo; Timmy Wegner, baritone solo; Melody Leman, alto sax solo; Aiden Middleton, alto sax solo; Payten Boyd  and Jasmin Robles-Serna, instrumental duet; Brady Pierson, Abi Rose and Jonathan Wegner, instrumental trio; )Cecilia Gordon, clarinet solo; Melody Leman and Abby Hitchcock, instrumental duet, and Penny D'Arcy, Jaycee Chase, Tess Jeschke and Emma Sinkular, instrumental quartet.

Earning a Division 2 instrumental rating were: Jelanie Opyd, snare drum solo; Tess Jeschke and Reagan Jeschke, instrumental duet;  Reagan Jeschke, Lilly Harney, and Sienna Ruffatto, instrumental trio, and Victoria Burns and Bode Kline, instrumental duet. And, Kendall Schute’s trumpet solo earned a division three rating. 

The instrumental students are directed by Andrew Brimm. 

Among the vocalists participating in solo and ensemble contest were Penny D’Artcy and Marina Figge with a division 1 rating in vocal duet, and division 2 ratings were earned by Owen Burla, vocal solo and Hope Wermer and Jasin Robles-Serna in vocal duet. 

Vocal students are directed by Michael Kren.

Mr. Brimm and Mr. Kren are proud of all of their students and what they were able to accomplish.
