Baer crowned top speller at CCMS

Coal City Middle School recently held its annual Spelling Bee and three students went home with a bee topped trophy. 

 

The top four spellers from each grade level competed for school level honors and a chance to move on to the conference spelling bee. 

 

Eighth grader Xavier Baer was the overall spelling bee champion for 2024. Ryland Clements was second and third place went to Max Christensen. 

 

Grade level representatives moving on to the Illinois Valley Conference [IVC] Spelling Bee are—Landyn Pierard, sixth grade; Max Christensen, seventh grade, and Xavier Baer, eighth grade. 

 

The IVC Bee will be held in Morris at 4:30 p.m. on March 11.
