Students in Mr. Fatigante's sixth grade math class at Coal City Middle School have been busy learning and understanding what percentages are.
Throughout the last few weeks, students have been doing different partner activities to practice. One activity included students pretending they were servers at The Cactus Grill. Students were given different food orders and had to calculate taxes, discounts and tips.
Another favorite was the Math Lib activity. Students had to complete problems to fill out the math lib that contained a funny story for them to read to the class.
“Percentages are a vital skill to understand as students get older so we spend a good amount of time on this unit,” Mr. Fatigante said.
