About Me...

Hello! My name is Meagan Van Duyne. I grew up in Coal City, and I cannot think of a better place to raise a family. This is my sixth year as an ELA teacher at Coal City Middle School. I graduated from Governors State University with a teaching degree in English, and I received my masters from Olivet Nazarene University as a Reading Specialist. I am currently working towards becoming a National Board Certified Teacher.

I have four children, who are all in the Coal City school district. My oldest is Gavin, and he is a sophomore. My second oldest is Gabby, and she is a freshman. My third child is Dane, and he is in sixth grade. My youngest, Darcy, is in third grade.

As a teacher, I firmly believe that all children deserve every chance to learn and be successful. I advocate social-emotional learning in the classroom, and I compel all students to go above and beyond what they think they are capable of doing.
