About Us

Coal City Middle School serves as the student center for 6th, 7th and  8th grade students in the Coal City School District.   Built in 2000, CCMS currently serves approximately 500 students with 60 certified teachers and staff members. CCMS is proud of our excellent academic tradition and boasts a curriculum and assessment process aligned with the IL Learning Standards.  In addition to our academic curriculum, CCMS offers an excellent fine arts and encore program which allows all students to try out many different classes before moving onto Coal City High School.  Finally, our school offers a wide variety of opportunities in athletics, organizations and clubs with over 20 different activities throughout the school year.
