Willow DeKruiff, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher
MEET THE TEACHER
Hello! My name is Miss. DeKruiff, and I am so excited to return for my second year at Coal City Middle School!! It is going to be an exciting year filled with learning, adventures, and fun challenges. I am now the lead DHH Teacher for all 5 Coal City Schools. I earned my bachelor's degree at Illinois State University and completed my student teaching at Oswego High School's Deaf and hard-of-hearing program in Illinois and Tennessee School for the Deaf in Knoxville, Tennessee.
My involvement in the school community extends beyond the classroom. I have been teaching color guard for over ten years, and currently serve as a Color Guard coach/choreographer at Batavia High School, Lake Central High School, and Coal City Middle School. I was a performer in the Drum Corps International with the Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps from Concord, California. In the 2023-2024 school year, I initiated an American Sign Language Club, which I'm excited to continue this coming year. I’m also the new head coach for Coal City Middle School Cheer, a role I'm looking forward to.
The easiest ways to reach me will be through email or the Remind app. Please always feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns that you may have. There is always a path to success, even if it’s not the easiest road.
