Over the past week, sixth graders have been preparing for their “Battle of the Gods” in social studies. Students have been learning about life within Ancient Egypt over the past several weeks and this project helps to provide understanding of a key element of this early civilization. Each group chose an Egyptian god or goddess and spent class time researching their background information, friends/enemies, jobs and powers. Their ultimate goal was to persuade their classmates why their particular god or goddess was the most awesome or important.
“Each group had to really focus on choosing facts that had persuasive power while leaving an impact on their audience. It was quite interesting to see how each group worked as a team to gain votes from their classmates. Overall, I’m really proud of how well the groups worked together,” Mrs. Clark said of her students.
