Coal City Middle School Choir students have been busy all year long in preparation for their upcoming performances. This past month, to get into the Halloween spirit, warm ups were sung in a minor key and students implemented “spooky” vowels into their singing. On Halloween, creative costumes filled the room as the young musicians learned “Double Trouble,” a short and memorable song from one of the “Harry Potter” movies while a dry-ice fueled bubbling cauldron added to the effect of the afternoon. Students also had the chance to watch “The Skeleton Dance,” one of Disney’s “Silly Symphonies” and discuss the way that music contributes to film and animation. The choirs have already begun their work on winter music in preparation for their concert on Dec. 18
