Students in Mrs. Traxler’s class have been typing their narrative continuation essays. After reading the novel The Giver, which has an ending open for interpretation, students wrote their narratives about how they would have liked the book to end.
They have been learning how to properly incorporate writing elements like dialogue, sensory details, and figurative language into their stories. They have also been practicing writing in the correct point of view and paragraphing properly.
“It has been entertaining to read the different endings her students have created,” Mrs. Traxler said. The next unit in the English curriculum is nonfiction reading and writing.
