In Ms. Horrie’s middle school math classes, students have been working on many different aspects of geometry. Two of the topics are volume and surface area, which can be calculated for 3-dimensional figures.
“We have been finding the volume and surface areas of many 3D figures, including rectangular prisms, triangular prisms, cylinders, cones, pyramids, and spheres” Ms. Horrie said.
Students have been working in small groups to measure and find the volumes and surface areas of some different 3D shapes in the classroom.
“Students worked very well together, and came up with the most accurate measurement they could get using a measuring tape or ruler. They did a great job working as a group,” the teacher said.
